On the offer
Beer anybody? This is a window onto the history of science, botany, society, art and communication.
It's difficult to imagine that only women brewed and distributed beer 7,000 years ago. That, for several centuries, the great beers made in abbeys were the drink of choice among those with a zest for the good things in life. That great 19th-century artists designed extravagant advertising posters for beer. And that today, industrial brewing in stainless steel vats is subject to the most rigorous laboratory testing.
You can go on this long journey through time and space at the Beer Museum (Musée de la Bière) in Stenay. Housed in a 16th-century food store that became a malting in the 19th century, the museum conjures up the world of beer and brewing through a collection of more than 53,000 items displayed over an area of more than 2,500 sq. metres.
