Félicien was born in 1833 and died in 1898 and lived in the 19th century, a period known for the industrial revolution, the evolution of values and the Modernity that made place for the Symbolism in art.
The museum wishes to be a place where the character of the extraordinary artist can be displayed. The permanent collection offers the visitors a voyage through the work of Rops in all its diversity: from the beginning with social satire and caricature, etches, the collaboration with Baudelaire, the Parisian life, the rise of engravings and the presence of women, erotism, the association with the literary world, the journeys,...
The museum also welcomes temporary exhibitions about the 19th century, engravings, contemporary artists/engravers from Belgium and abroad, etc. They organise numerous educational activities as well.
