On the offer
During this stage you will pass through the picturesque village of Asselt, with its beautiful terraces along the water. This pretty church village was formerly a heavily armed Norman fortress. In 881, the Danish crown prince Godfried the Younger travelled from England along the Limburg stretch of the Maas and landed at Asselt. From their fortress, the Normans plundered abbeys, churches and cities such as Maastricht, Leuven and Aken. More detailed information is provided by the Asselt Regional Museum.
